Not sure if you've seen the pic of the Wesley College honours board that shows all Jonah's athletic wins? Good story on the one bloke to beat him.

Seems like the passing of a brave guy and great rugby player.

As others have noted, Rugby's first, and arguably, only global superstar.

R.I.P big man

Can't believe Jerry Collins and now Johah Lomu both gone in the same year FFS.

Doc.

Astonishing that NZ couldn't win in 1995 OR 1999 with the great Jonah in their side.
The rest of them must have been a bit ordinary.

Don't watch rugby much at all, but the man was clearly a massive talent and a good guy. 40!? That's awful for someone dedicated to sport. If there is "a God" he's a random, cruel fucker.

Ha Ha... Greenwood is a card!!

Liked the story I heard today of Jonah Lomu getting wild in the semi in 95 when Tony Underwood kept winking at him whilst doing the haka... bad mistake that

Such a shock, knew he had had kidney problems for a long time but to be dead at 40 is awful. Normally I am pretty indifferent to celebrity deaths but am genuinely saddened about this.

Re: Jonah Lomu - All Brown (Bread)
Nice. Clive Woodward talking about the 95 semi I think:

"The night before that game we had a team meeting and I told the England lads that I wouldn't want a single New Zealander in my team. England were the best and England were going to win. There was a bit of a murmuring and eventually Will Greenwood put his hand up. 'Clive we have had a bit of a word and, er, the consensus is that we would definitely swap Austin Healey for Jonah.' $

Cardiac arrest apparently. Wondering whether his kidney problems put him at higher risk of DVT or pulmonary embolism after long haul flying as he had just arrived home from overseas.
